Some people like dogs, some people like cats, some like birds, some like fish and then there are people who are just passionate about animals. That would be us, absolutely stark raving bonkers about animals.
You would expect someone who is bonkers about animals to have a few dogs around. Well, we do. Here’s a run down by date of birth and, as they say, are cheaper by the dozen.

All of our family are rescues and / or came out of dumpsters, ditches or (like Cody) were almost feral. Cody was trapped and rehabilitated. We think she may even make a therapy dog one day or at least an agility dog. All our dogs are our "children" so naturally live inside. Each has their own pad, their own kennel and their own bowl so there is no confusion or mayhem as you might think. We have been living closely with dogs for over a decade and know how to be the alpha of the pack. There is harmony in the house (and TWO vacuum cleaners!).

We have been very active for over a decade with Great Pyrenees Rescue of the Carolinas. Please, if you know of anyone who is even THINKING about getting a Great Pyrenees, please pass on their name and number. There are so many in rescue, pet and working dogs, that we could be a great service and save the person much time and money.
- SC-ARF is a no-kill shelter at Fox Nest Veterinary Hospital. We are among the founding members.
- SCDogs is a pet therapy group which is now getting national recognition. We are active members. Valerie is a team supervisor and Steve is a volunteer.
- We are both active as well in the National Opossum Society. We only rehabilitate possums but do know of organizations that have certified wildlife rehabilitators among their members. These are the only people who are allowed by law to handle any wild creature outside.
